The JPL Open Repository (JOR) replaced the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) in 2023. It is a repository for digital copies of technical publications authored by JPL employees. It includes journal articles (the Final Accepted Version), meeting papers, presentations, and other publications cleared for external distribution from 1992 to the present. It also includes research datasets from 2022 on.

Years covered: 1992 to the present.
  • 1992-2021 records were originally on the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) on Dspace system; those records were migrated to Dataverse in 2022.
  • Records with publication date 2022 or later are native to the Dataverse.
  • Data sets: 2022 to present
  • There are a few pre-1992 records. Those were added to the system on a case-by-case request basis.

  • Persistent IDs (PIDs):
  • 1992-2021 records have Handles
  • 2022 and later records have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Halpern, D., 1992, "Validation of Special Sensor Microwave Imager Monthly-Mean Wind Speed From July 1987 to December 1989", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/36704, Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, JPL Open Repository
Since July 1987 the Remote Sensing Systems, Santa Rosa, California, routinely computes from first principles the wind speed from Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) measurements of the intensity of microwave radiation emitted at the ocean surface. The accuracy of monthly-mean...

Tawel, R., 1992, "An Analog Processor for Image Compression", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/36710, UNKNOWN, JPL Open Repository
This paper describes a novel analog Vector Array Processor (VAP) that was designed for use in real-time and ultra-low power image compression applications. This custom CMOS processor is based architectually on the Vector Quantization (VQ) algorithm in image coding, and the hardwa...

Ostro, S. J., 1992, "Planetary Radar", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/36687, UNKNOWN, JPL Open Repository
Planetary radar astronomy is the study of solar system entities (the moon, asteroids, and comets, as well as the major planets and their satellites and ring systems) by transmitting radio signals towards a target and receiving and analyzing the echoes.

Hechler, F.; Folkner, W. M., 1992, "Mission Analysis for Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA)", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/26393, UNKNOWN, JPL Open Repository
The interplanetary orbits of three pairs of spaceprobes carrying laser interferometer antennae are designed such that their miutual distances, i.e., the lengths of the interferometer arms remain nearly constant. The pairs move relative to each other in an equilateral triangle.
