The JPL Open Repository (JOR) replaced the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) in 2023. It is a repository for digital copies of technical publications authored by JPL employees. It includes journal articles (the Final Accepted Version), meeting papers, presentations, and other publications cleared for external distribution from 1992 to the present. It also include research datasets from 2022 on.

Years covered: 1992 to the present.
  • 1992-2021 records were originally on the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) on Dspace system; those records were migrated to Dataverse in 2022.
  • Records with publication date 2022 or later are native to the Dataverse.
  • Data sets: 2022 to present
  • There are a few pre-1992 records. Those were added to the system on a case-by-case request basis.

  • Persistent IDs (PIDs):
  • 1992-2021 records have Handles
  • 2022 and later records have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Winslow, J. W.; Silveira, C. de, 1993, "(abstract) A Brief, Selective Review of Thermal Cycling Fatigue in Eutectic Tin-Lead Solder", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/35416, Las Vegas, NV, JPL Open Repository
This paper reviews selected parts of the current literature relevant to thermo-mechanical fatigue mechanisms in eutectic tin-lead solder, and suggests a general outline to account for some observed failures. The field is found to be complex. One recent experimental study finds so...

There has recently been renewed interest in the development of instrumentation for making measurements on the surface of Mars. This is due to the Mars Environmental Survey (MESUR) Mission, for which approximately 16 small, long-lived (2 to 10 years), relatively inexpensive surfac...

The Parametrized Real-Time Ionosphere Specification Model (PRISM) is a global ionospheric specification model that can incorporate real-time data to compute accurate electron density profiles. Time series of computed and measured data are compared in this paper. This comparison c...

There is a myth that all solar effects can be parameterized by the sun spot number. This is not true. For example, the level of geomagnetic activity during this century was not proportional to the sunspot number. Instead there is a large systematic increase in geomagnetic activit...

Daud, Tuan, 1996, "(abstract) A High Throughput 3-D Inner Product Processor", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/27359, Minneapolis, MN, JPL Open Repository
A particularily challenging image processing application is the real time scene acquisition and object discrimination. It requires spatio-temporal recognition of point and resolved objects at high speeds with parallel processing algorithms. Neural network paradigms provide fine g...

Huang, John, 1997, "(abstract) A Ka-Band 0.5 m Circularily Polarized Microstrip Reflectarray", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/26489, Hong Kong, JPL Open Repository
The microstrip reflectarray antenna, being in the form of a flat reflector, has recently been investigated by several antenna researchers. This antenna, when compared to the conventional parabolic reflector, not only has the potential advantages of achieving smaller mass, smaller...

We have detected a dramatic short-term speedup of the Ryder Glacier, Greenland, using satellite radar interferometry. The accelerated flow represents a substantial, though short-lived, change in the ice discharge from the basin. We use the term

A prototype low-noise accelerometer has been fabricated with an electron-tunneling transducer. By measuring the tunneling current between an electrode on the proof mass and a feedback-controlled monitor electrode, very small accelerations can be detected with high responsivity. T...

A polarimetric scattering model is developed to study effects of snow cover and frost flowers with brine infiltration on thin sea ice. Leads containing thin sea ice in the Artic icepack are important to heat exchange with the atmosphere and salt flux into the upper ocean. Surface...

GRO J1655-40 was discovered as a new, bright X-ray source with the BATSE detector of the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) on July 27, 1994. During the subsequent radio outburst we completed VLBI synthesis imaging observations at a frequency of 2.29 GHz. An unprecedented angular motion...
