The JPL Open Repository (JOR) replaced the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) in 2023. It is a repository for digital copies of technical publications authored by JPL employees. It includes journal articles (the Final Accepted Version), meeting papers, presentations, and other publications cleared for external distribution from 1992 to the present. It also includes research datasets from 2022 on.

Years covered: 1992 to the present.
  • 1992-2021 records were originally on the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) on Dspace system; those records were migrated to Dataverse in 2022.
  • Records with publication date 2022 or later are native to the Dataverse.
  • Data sets: 2022 to present
  • There are a few pre-1992 records. Those were added to the system on a case-by-case request basis.

  • Persistent IDs (PIDs):
  • 1992-2021 records have Handles
  • 2022 and later records have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

The equivalence of gravitational and inertial mass has been advanced to a basic postulate of the Einstein view of gravity. As such it deserves the most rigorous testing possible.

Chahine, M. T., 1993, "Observation of Local Cloud and Moisture Feedbacks Associated with High Ocean and Desert Surface Temperatures", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/34988, n/a, JPL Open Repository
New data on clouds and moisture, made possible by reanalysis of weather satellite observations, show that the atmosphere reacts to warm ocean pools in the Western Pacific Ocean with increased moisture and cloudiness, suggesting a negative feedback limiting the rise in sea-surface...

A design is presented of a low gravity simulator where a magnetic field gradient is employed to oppose the hydrostatic pressure effects of gravity. It appears feasible to reduce the effective gravity environment of the helium in the cell by about two orders of magnitude. The corr...

In the past year, there has been substantial impetus for NASA to consider missions that are of relatively low cost as a trade off for a higher new mission launch rate. To maintain low mission cost, these missions will be of short duration and will use smaller launch vehicles (e.g...

High-resolution spectra of H216O were recorded with a Fourier-transform spectrometer covering transitions in the (100)-(010), (001)-(010), (100)-(000), and (001)-(000) bands. The measured line frequencies were used to determine high accuracy values of rotational energy levels in...
