The JPL Open Repository (JOR) replaced the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) in 2023. It is a repository for digital copies of technical publications authored by JPL employees. It includes journal articles (the Final Accepted Version), meeting papers, presentations, and other publications cleared for external distribution from 1992 to the present. It also include research datasets from 2022 on.

Years covered: 1992 to the present.
  • 1992-2021 records were originally on the JPL Technical Report Server (TRS) on Dspace system; those records were migrated to Dataverse in 2022.
  • Records with publication date 2022 or later are native to the Dataverse.
  • Data sets: 2022 to present
  • There are a few pre-1992 records. Those were added to the system on a case-by-case request basis.

  • Persistent IDs (PIDs):
  • 1992-2021 records have Handles
  • 2022 and later records have Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Farr, Tom G.; Kobrick, Mike, 1996, "(abstract) The Shuttle Radar Topography Mapper", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/26415, Zurich, Switzerland, JPL Open Repository
The Shuttle Radar Topography Mapper (SRTM), is a cooperative project between NASA and the Defense Mapping Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. The mission is designed to use a single-pass radar interferometer to produce a digital elevation model of the Earth's land surface b...

Devereaux, Ann, 1996, "(abstract) The Role of the Deep Space Network for Cassini", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/27494, Bologna, Italy, JPL Open Repository
Cassini radio science experiments have several categories of requirements for DSN tracking services. The three main areas for upgrade are in Ka-band, long-term frequence stability, and short-term frequency stability/phase noise level.

Alkalaj, Leon; Panwar, Ramesh, 1993, "(abstract) The Nest Generation of Space Flight Computers", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/35284, Anaheim, CA, JPL Open Repository
To meet new design objectives for drastic reductions in mass, size, and power consumption, the Flight Computer Development Group at JPL is participating in a design study and development of a light-weight, small-sized, low-power 3-D Space Flight Computer. In this paper, we will p...

Beichman, Charles, 1994, "(abstract) The IRAS All-Sky Survey: Scientific and Technical Lessons Learned", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/34501, Hamburg, Germany, JPL Open Repository
Although the Infrared Astronomy Satellite (IRAS) was launched over 10 years ago, the IRAS legacy of catalogs, images, and data archives remains a vital source of information on the infrared sky. Over 4000 papers in the refereed literature have used IRAS data, and this number cont...

We will present observational evidence that the eruption of filaments and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) occur as a consequence of the destabilization of large scale coronal arcades due to newly emerging magnetic flux reconnecting with the preexisting arcades.

Weissman, Paul R.; Stern, S. Alan, 1993, "(abstract) The Impactor Flux in the Pluto-Charon System", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/35453, Flagstaff, AZ, JPL Open Repository
The impactor flux on Pluto and Charon consists of long-period comets from the Oort cloud passing through the region, and intermediate-period comets evolving inward to (or outward from) short-period orbits. The source of the intermediate-period comets is likely an extended disk of...

Deutsch, Leslie J., 1997, "(abstract) The Galileo Spacecraft: A Telecommunications Legacy for Future Space Flight", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/27498, Padova,Italy, JPL Open Repository
The Galileo mission to Jupiter has implemented a wide range of telecommunication improvements in response to the loss of its high gain antenna. While necessity dictated the use of these new techniques for Galileo, now that they have been proven in flight, they are available for u...

Way, JoBea, 1993, "(abstract) The EOS SAR Mission: A New Approach", https://hdl.handle.net/2014/34933, Tokyo, Japan, JPL Open Repository
The goal of the Earth Orbiting System Synthetic Aperture Radar (EOS SAR) program is to help develop the modeling and observational capabilities to predict and monitor terrestrial and oceanic processes that are either causing global change or resulting from global change. Specific...

New limits on the methane mixing ratio within the well-mixed tropospheres of Uranus and Neptune place significant constraints on planetary formation mechanisms within the outer solar system. Our results support the conclusion of other researchers that a nontrivial amount of metha...
