dc.description.abstract The Near-Infrared Mapping Spectrometer on Galileo has observed Io since June 1996. In 1999 and 2000, the spacecraft made three close fly-bys to Io, revealing for the first time, the detailed thermal structure of some of Io's hot spots. en_US
