dc.description.abstract | The study of properties of liquid helium very near the Lambda-Point in the presence of a heat current has recently received increased experimental and theoretical attention. Traditional ground based experiments very near the Lambda-Point are limited by gravitationally induced pressure varioations in the helium sample. In order to circumvent this difficulty we have developed a technique which utilizes the diamamagnetic properties of liquid helium and a highly specialized magnetic field configuration to minimize these pressure effects. | en_US |
